A Bit of History
Shakespeare asked, “What’s in a name?” For Del Monte, the name has been synonymous with ‘quality’ from the beginning. The moniker debuted in 1886, used for a premium coffee blend prepared for the Hotel Del Monte on the Monterey Peninsula. By 1892, the Del Monte brand expanded its business and used the respected brand name for its new line of canned peaches.
